FIS Speaker Event

Speaker Events
Members enjoy speaker events with a variety of companies throughout the semester. Speakers share information regarding the companies they represent, internships and career opportunities, and their personal educational and career experiences. These information sessions are open exclusively to our members. Scheduled speaker events for the upcoming semester will be released in late January.

Community Service Events
FIS is dedicated to giving back to the campus and surrounding communities. Throughout each semester, FIS participates in several community service events ranging from Lakeshore Path Cleanups to volunteering for the Dane County Humane Society. Our members particularly look forward to the Polar Plunge every spring semester!

Social Events
Although FIS is a group of motivated and hardworking students, we like to have fun, too! Social events held throughout each semester provide opportunities to meet and connect with fellow members. Past socials have included haunted forests, the Comedy Club, and Brewer’s trips. Socials also follow every speaker event. Post-Speaker socials provide our members with one-on-one networking opportunities with company recruiters.

Case Competitions
Members of FIS also have the opportunity to compete with other members in Case Competitions. A case competition is an event in which teams have an opportunity to analyze and develop a solution to a business problem then present their recommendations to a panel. Case competitions are a great way for students to showcase their skills and abilities to potential employers. It is also very common for students to encounter cases during interviews. During last fall semester, some of our members participated in the Target Omni-Channel Evolution Case Competition.

Semester Banquet
Active members enjoy a banquet at the end of each semester, where they will be treated to dinner. The FIS Executive Board elections also take place during the banquet. Following dinner, candidates deliver speeches and members vote on who governs our society the following semester. Any active member may run for a position!
